We started TheFixCar.com because most automotive advice online is either recycled from someone else's recycled advice, or written by people who haven't had grease under their fingernails in years. The garage doesn't lie — and neither do we.
TheFixCar.com publishes practical, accurate automotive content written by people who work on cars for a living. Every article goes through a defined editorial process before it's published, and every factual claim is backed by a primary source. If you spot something wrong, we want to know — our corrections policy isn't boilerplate.
What we cover
We break down the full range of vehicle ownership: diagnostics and fault codes, scheduled maintenance intervals, specifications, symptoms that need attention now versus later, and the financial side of keeping a car on the road. If a topic affects your decision about your car, we want to cover it properly.
Why trust us?
Our team includes an ASE Master Technician running his own independent shop, a lead diagnostician specialising in European imports, a fleet maintenance manager with twelve years of commercial vehicle operations, and a service advisor with nearly a decade behind the dealership counter. That range of experience means the advice here reflects actual specialisation — not a single generalist writing about everything.
We publish our sources in every article. We name our authors and describe their backgrounds. And we maintain a public editorial policy that explains exactly how content is produced, reviewed, and corrected.
Our standards
- Accurate or corrected. Factual errors are fixed and noted. If something changes — a recall, updated specifications, new data — the article is updated, not abandoned.
- Honest about difficulty. If a repair is genuinely hard, or if a symptom could point to something serious, we say so directly. No sugarcoating.
- No undisclosed commercial interests. We do not accept payment to change recommendations or alter editorial content. Affiliate relationships are disclosed.
- Accessible without being dumbed down. Whether you're a first-time owner or an experienced DIYer, the goal is the same: give you enough to make a good decision about your car.
The team
Our contributors are ASE-certified technicians, diagnosticians, fleet maintenance specialists, and experienced service professionals. Each author works within a defined area of expertise — you can read their backgrounds and credentials on the editorial policy page.
